What better time to snuggle up with a warm cup of tea and just read away.
Even better when the books you read have that lovely autumn feeling.
The following four books are my favourite autumn reads. None of them are strictly autumn themed, but they all feel like autumn (at least to me).
My faourite type of book to read in the autumn are adventure books. So the following books are all filled with quest, daring heists or a cruel fate.
The Night Circus tells the tale of Celia Bowen and Marco Alistair. Both are apprentices of two powerful magicians, that live in ongoing competition. Which is fought through their respective appetencies: Celia and Marco. This time the competition is held in Le Cirque des Rêves (the circus of dreams), a circus specifically build for this purpose. In an (not-so) unforeseen turn of events Marco and Celia fall in love, despite having to beat one another in the competition.
The Night Circus has a special kind of magic. While reading one can really leave reality and fall into another world purely made out of black and withe. This book is a great addition to grey weather and rainfall. It will make you dream and will leave you enchanted. Wich is very fitting for the autumn-months.
I would recommend reading this book in November. Because of the color palette in the book.
The Girl of Ink and Stars - Kirian Millwood Hargrave
The cover colour is not the only reason I picked this book. It is the perfect October read. Its thrilling, spooky and a bit romantic. Everything one needs in a good adventure story. I would advise having tissues nearby while reading. This book might hurt you.
Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom - Leigh Bardugo
The following are just a few reasons why this is a great fall read: Is is one of the best book series I have ever read. There is adventure, great characters, romance and a big batch of mystery. There is a big chunk of the story that is cruel and scary, perfect for October.
The biggest point for me is, that it feels like autumn. This is of cause very subjective.
Let me know what your favourite autumn reads are?
Have you read any of the books mentioned?
Do you agree with me, that they are fall reads?
Have you any recommendations for me?
Thank you for reading
- Miett
